To Our Valued Patients – We’ve Missed You!

I hope you and your families have all been healthy, safe, keeping well, and caught up on Netflix and spring cleaning. Over at the Muirhead home we have been planting gardens, building stuff, reorganizing every room, taking very long walks with the dog and videoconferencing like crazy. So crazy. Our family has grown even closer.

We have returned to work with your safety and the community’s safety top of mind, and we are so thankful for the leadership we have received from Dr. Bonnie Henry and Adrian Dix along with our Dental Associations. Fortuitously, BC, and Vancouver Island in particular, has weathered the pandemic with lower outbreaks and higher recovery rates then most of Canada and most of the world.

But! We still feel it important to go the extra-mile for what we call infection control and screening. Besides our strict protocols of every surface, every patient, every time, being disinfected, AND every instrument autoclaved, we have implemented screening measures over the phone and at the door to provide social distancing for you when you arrive at the practice.

You’ll also note the very cool interior design work we’ve applied to the office in the form of minimalism and plexiglass complemented by hand sanitizer artfully displayed throughout. Also, our washroom is temporarily closed and our waiting room now extends to your vehicles and spaced outdoor patio seating. You can text 250-656-1841 when you arrive and we will escort you into the office in VIP fashion. Masks are available to you.

These protocols and others, are in keeping with the authorized guidelines released by various BC health, disease, workplace and dental authorities. They have jointly collaborated on the easing of some restrictions and the policy recommendations for re-opening of Dental Offices in B.C. We are following these guidelines.

I want your experience to remain comfortable and relaxed while we continue to keep you safe and provide exceptional care. Being unable to help many of you—with real solutions beyond pharmaceuticals and advice—these past few months has been emotional and difficult for me. Returning to practice has been equally touching for me as I’ve realized how much I’ve missed you and your association. It has been a joy to ease some of your difficulties.

As part of our enhanced protocol, we have implemented the following precautions:

– Daily Employee screening for COVID-19 symptoms
– Every patient pre-screened for COVID-19 symptoms in advance, along with screening day-of appointment with temperature and screening questions.
– We are not treating patients with symptoms of COVID-19, exposure to corona virus, recent travel outside B.C. etc.
– Arrival communications/protocol – You will call/text the office when you arrive and we will invite you into the office and into your prepared treatment room.
– We have expanded disinfection and sanitization protocols throughout the office including reception areas, bathrooms, and of course, treatment rooms to uphold and go above CDSBC Standards and Guidelines
